Through our school gardens, environmental clubs, and awareness campaigns, We continues to nurture a generation of youth who understand the causes and impacts of climate change, and are ready to be part of the solution.

In line with this commitment, We successfully organized the maiden edition of the Schools’ Climate Festival at the World Vision Hall in Savelugu. The event brought together schoolchildren, teachers, and community members to raise awareness and inspire collective action against climate change.

The festival provided an engaging platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and commitment to environmental sustainability through debates, quizzes, and drama performances. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, energy, and a shared sense of purpose as schools competed while learning about one of the most pressing issues of our time, climate change.

In his opening remarks, the Chairperson of the event, Mr. Mohammed Yussif, Human Resource Officer at the Savelugu Municipal Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, emphasized that climate change is not a distant threat, it is our reality.”  He explained that the changing climate is already affecting our health, livelihoods, and environment, calling for urgent and united action. He further stated that “the youth are the light of this transformation,” underscoring the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge and passion to lead climate solutions in their schools and communities.

The Executive Director of RAINS, Mr. Hardi Tijani, commended the participating schools for their remarkable enthusiasm and dedication, especially in maintaining school gardens that promote environmental learning and local food security. He noted that RAINS has, over the years, invested significant effort in creating climate change awareness and encouraging environmentally responsible practices through its various education and community-based interventions.

The Director of Education for Savelugu Municipal, Mr. Mohammed Majeed, who was also the Guest Speaker, applauded RAINS for its continued collaboration with schools to strengthen environmental education. He emphasized the crucial role of education in equipping the next generation with the tools to tackle climate challenges, stating that:
