About the Project

Quality education begins with well-prepared teachers. QE4C strengthens teacher training by integrating innovative, context-based learner-centered (CBLC) pedagogy into Colleges of Education. The project equips trainee teachers with practical, inclusive, and modern teaching approaches that make classrooms more engaging and improve learning outcomes for children. By aligning teaching methods with the realities of local communities, QE4C ensures that education is relevant, participatory, and impactful. With support from AXIS Denmark, the project runs from 2026 to 2028 and focuses on improving the quality of teaching and learning in Northern Ghana.

What We Aim to Achieve

QE4C seeks to strengthen teacher preparation and professional skills, improve classroom delivery and student performance, promote active learning, creativity, and critical thinking, integrate practical and hands-on teaching methods, and build sustainable, system-wide change in teacher education.

Who We Work With

The project works closely with six Colleges of Education in Northern Ghana, as well as tutors and trainee teachers who are central to its implementation. It also engages education institutions and researchers to support evidence-based improvement in teaching and learning. In addition, the project benefits basic school learners by enhancing classroom experiences and learning outcomes. Local communities and civil society partners are also actively involved to ensure wider participation, ownership, and sustainability of the project.

Our Approach

QE4C combines research, innovation, and collaboration to drive lasting change. Its key approaches include curriculum innovation and reform, evidence-based programming guided by research from the University for Development Studies (UDS), capacity building for tutors and trainee teachers, and the use of practical and experiential learning models, including school gardens. The project also emphasizes strong partnerships between civil society, academia, and teacher training institutions to ensure effective implementation and sustainable impact.

Expected Results

Through QE4C, we envision confident and well-equipped teachers, interactive and learner-centered classrooms, improved student learning outcomes, inclusive and practical education systems, and stronger schools and communities.
