STAR-Ghana Foundation and WACSI on a Partner Support Visit to RAINS under the Civil Society Strengthening Fund – Shifting the Power Programme CSSP#StP Programme
Tamale, Ghana: On 17th September 2026, RAINS welcomed representatives of anchor partners STAR-Ghana Foundation and the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) for a partner support visit under the Civil Society Strengthening Fund – Shifting the Power (CSSP#StP) Programme. The Shifting the Power Programme provides support for organizational strengthening across three pillars of Financial sustainability, Operational Support and Institutional strengthening.
The CSSP#StP Programme has provided support to RAINS in strengthening its institutional capacity and organizational systems to be a more resilient, innovative and community-driven civil society organization.
The purpose of the partner support visit was for STAR Ghana Foundation and WACSI to work with RAINS to assess learnings and officially close out Phase 1 of the programme, and together review and agree on RAINS’ plans for Phase 2. The anchor partners’ delegation, which was led by Joan Vivian Koomson, Head of Partnership and Resource Mobilization from STAR-Ghana Foundation, and Farouk Alhassan, Program Officer for Capacity Development at WACSI, engaged with the RAINS team to assess achievements from Phase 1 and what key learnings from that phase could be carried into Phase 2 towards making RAINS a more resilient organization to continue empowering communities to drive their own development. The visit also provided an opportunity for reflection and learning as RAINS continues to implement the institutional development initiatives supported through the programme.
The CSSP#StP support contributes to RAINS’ broader commitment to building a strong and sustainable institution capable of working effectively with communities, social movements, development partners, and other stakeholders to improve the quality of life of people facing barriers, especially young people.
RAINS appreciates STAR-Ghana Foundation and WACSI for this partnership and organizational strengthening support. The organization looks forward to building on the progress made through the initiative and continuing to strengthen its systems, leadership, and organizational capacity for lasting development impact.
