Quality Education for Change (QE4C) Project

Transforming Teacher Education Through Learner-Centered Pedagogy

The Quality Education for Change (QE4C) Project is a three-year initiative (January 2026 to December 2028) aimed at improving the quality of teacher education in Northern Ghana. The project strengthens teaching and learning in Colleges of Education through the integration of Context-Based Learner-Centered (CBLC) pedagogy, equipping lecturers and student teachers with inclusive, participatory, and practical teaching approaches that improve learning outcomes, especially for girls and marginalized learners.

About the Project

Strengthening Teacher Education for Better Learning Outcomes

Teacher education plays a critical role in shaping the quality of basic education. However, many teaching approaches in Colleges of Education remain traditional and less responsive to the realities of learners in Northern Ghana. The QE4C Project was designed to address this gap by introducing Context-Based Learner-Centered (CBLC) pedagogy across selected Colleges of Education affiliated with the University for Development Studies (UDS). The approach ensures that teaching is more interactive, practical, and rooted in the lived experiences of learners.Implemented by RAINS, the project focuses on improving instructional quality, strengthening lecturer capacity, and preparing student teachers to deliver inclusive and effective classroom experiences in basic schools.
