Through funding support from the African Development Bank, RAINS in partnership with the Canadian Feed The Children (CFTC) are implementing a two-year project titled, Climate Information Made Available To Entrepreneurial Farmers (CLIMATE) in five (5) selected communities (Dipale, Libga, Kpalung, Koduhizegu and Kuldanali) in the Savelugu Municipality of the Northern Region of Ghana.
Overall, this project aims to improve resilience to the risk of climate change of farming households in northern Ghana.
This project seeks to enhance access to climate information and facilitate the integration of climate information into smallholder farmers’ practices and activities in Northern Ghana.
In the Northern Region, the project targets 250 vulnerable small-holder farmers to improve their capacity to adapt to climate change by increasing their access to climate & weather information and introducing climate-adaptive agronomic practices to them.
Specifically, the project intends to achieve the following;
- Increase access to climate information and strengthen capacity to implement adaptive measures by smallholder women and men farmers; and
- Introduce new climate adaptive technologies to increase stallholder’s productivity of staple and cash crops.
